We’re proud to announce that MSD, in partnership with branding agency ICON, have been awarded the signage and wayfinding design package for the redevelopment of Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
Already the largest airport in Brazil, the extensive redevelopment works will see Tom Jobim’s capacity expanded from 15 million to 70 million passengers per year. The airport has been in a continual state of redevelopment since late 2009 in preparation for the 2014 World Cup, with work now continuing to further boost the Tom Jobim’s capacity in preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
In 2014, prior to the World Cup, we completed an initial airport wayfinding review in order to ascertain the scope of the coming project. Following on from this, the present works will involve a fundamental redesign of the branding and signage products and wayfinding planning, from concept design stages right through to construction tendering.
This appointment is a further boost to MSD’s aviation sector credentials, in addition to overseas wayfinding design work we have already completed for Abu Dhabi and Muscat Airports as well as numerous signage packages delivered at London Heathrow.
